Sheffieldcruise.co.uk
Somehow, and for some reason, you've typed in sheffieldcruise.co.uk!
Sheffieldcruise was THE original, THE first internet based cruise website devoted to Sheffield and the surrounding area. It was set up in 2000 by Yorky and Mr Boost. Up until that time there were only national based cruise forums, such as cruiseboard.co.uk and speedcentral.co.uk. This was because setting up a web based internet chat forum was no where near as easy as it is now. Before this time most 'chat' was by use of IRC (Google it if you dont know what it is!), which was clunky, and not very public.
Although Sheffcruise.co.uk claim to have began in 2001, this is actually incorrect. Dave (the site 'owner') was still in school at that time, and their domain name was not registered until late 2002.
When Sheffieldcruise came along it became a focal point for all modified car owners within the Sheffield area and beyond. Suddenly they could all find each other in one place, easily. With additional advertising from Icy and his 'Web Car' (a red XR3i with lots of internet domain stickers all over the body work) word about the site spread rapidly. Realising how popular this was, Yorky and Mr Boost soon changed the site name to yorkshirecruise.co.uk, (You can read more about the history of Yorkshirecruise on our history page.) and from there, the only way was upward, and even more popularity.
Sheffieldcruise.co.uk is now held on our server purely as a museum piece, so you can see how it used to be, in the old days, before every McDonalds car park spawned its own 'website' (in the loosest sense of the term) using yet another free chat forum facility, hammering your browser with endless pop-ups!
So take a wander down Memory Lane (or Education Street if you're not old enough to remember cruising and car modifying in the early 2000s), and see just how comical things were back then! And no Police with "section 59" up their sleve either!
