yc nu-skool v.2.29.6.05 coded by flyinflea@yorkshirecruise.com 2005

The origins of Yorkshirecruise.com

Just where did this site come from? The site that Police forces all over the Yorkshire region trawl regularly. The site they all hold responsible for anything modified.... and couldnt be further from it!

In the begining......  Circa 1999 two dubious characters from Sheffield were well in to their modified cars. One was Rich (formerly known as Yorky), the other was Martin (Mr Boost). They both worked at Carnoseur, on Ecclesall Road Sheffield. They both had talents with the internet, and, recognising there was an unrising car modifying scene decided to set up a web site for these like minded people. And www.sheffieldcruise.co.uk was created. Through their work in the shop they distributed stickers and promoted their site as the scene grew. The original web site is still on-line (as a museum piece?!) at www.sheffieldcruise.co.uk

In 2001 they realised the scene was far bigger than expected.... so they rebranded the site www.yorkshirecruise.co.uk and took on the assistance of Tim (Frequency Hz). Unfortunately a year later the .co.uk domain was lost due to the internet hosts going bankrupt! So it was then re-registered as www.yorkshirecruise.com ....since then as the popularity of car modifying and the craze known as cruising has grown at a exponential rate, so has this site.

In 2002 Chris (flyin flea) came to the assistance of the crew who were becoming snowed under with the demands of the site....particularly with site maintenace. As it happened he had a talent for bangin music videos (see also www.flyinflea.tv ) and an ability to understand and write php scripts (the computer language which now runs Yorkshirecruise.com). In that year YC was hosted with Lycos....  who's server reliability went right down the pan.... and they didn't care either. flyin flea oversaw the site transfer (no easy task given the size of the site now). In this year Tim went self employed as he set up his own company, Frequency Hz Audio and associated web site www.fhzaudio.co.uk specialising in the booming In Car Entertainments market.

In 2004 the site had seen little change.... so flyin flea set about adding new features... such as calendars, photo albums and wrote new programs which would allow for randomised advertising on the site. Toward the end of the year the site gained a whole new look.... some might say its a portal add on.... but again the whole package was written by flyin flea.... and gave a more uniform look to the whole site, whether you were browsing reviews of past cruises or the phpbb forums... it still had the same style. Something which other cruise web sites still lack. The year also saw Mr Boost launch his own company, Jap Auto Styling, and associated web site www.japautostyling.co.uk

In 2005 flyin flea is still at it with the php scripts, and has now pushed the whole site in to the phpbb format. Jonanthan (formerly Johnny.Fun) also came to assist YC by offering a hosting package they could not refuse. See if he can offer you any help at www.pmc-hosting.net

Somewhere in the midst of all that.... new kids on the block came along, in the form of www.sheffcruise.co.uk .....again recapturing the Sheffield market....as did a whole plethora of 'back yard' sites..... but Yorkshirecruise.com has been here since the begining... bringing together cruise minded moddin mad people from right across the county. Englands biggest county.... Gods own county (check The Bible for reference).... The Peoples Republic....

YORKSHIRE!
